Subsurface Investigation

Subsurface Soil Investigations characterize the subsurface materials and geologic structure by utilizing several types of drill rigs, backhoes and hand excavation equipment.  Site reconnaissance, field and laboratory testing are performed to collect information and samples to classify soil and rock and to evaluate their engineering properties.

Foundation Engineering

Our geotechnical engineers analyze subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for foundation design of proposed structures.  Allowable bearing pressure, frost depths, swell potential and settlement are provided.

Geologic Hazards Evaluation

Our geologists and geotechnical engineers determine the presence of geologic hazards that may adversely affect the project and provide recommendations to mitigate the hazard.

Phase I & II Environmental Assessment

Our environmental scientists determine to environmental conditions have a bearing on the acquisition, development and marketing of property.

Slope Stability Evaluation

Our geotechnical engineers evaluate the stability of both existing and proposed native and embankment slopes.  Our engineers develop stabilization recommendations including installation of retaining systems, dewatering, failure plane mitigation, material selection and pressure grouting.

Earthwork Specifications

Specifications are prepared for the site development based on subsurface and geologic information.  The characteristics of the soil and rock as well as geologic hazards are incorporated into the specifications.  Special project needs with regard to schedule and budget are also considered.

Pavement Design

A pavement design is developed utilizing the soil characteristic, roadway designation and traffic loads.  Innovation is applied to the sampling procedures and design analysis to provide the optimal design for the roadway owner.

Foundation Damage Mitigation

Our extensive experience in new construction and building renovation provides insight into foundation damage investigations.   We coordinate the investigation with the structural department for a comprehensive understanding of the problem and to develop a unique, pragmatic mitigation and design.
